Madison College | Campus Life
College life offers students so many wonderful opportunities and experiences beyond the classroom. And sharing this message with prospective students in the form of an animation was a cost-effective and visually memorable way to present a variety of scenes and activities. On this series Paul animated for Madison College, he worked with designers to develop characters and scenes that would connect seamlessly throughout the piece. The environments and character elements built for the animation were repurposed for additional videos focused on other topics. This resulted in final deliverables that fit a budget that a typical video production might not accommodate.

What is Youngstar?
This project started with a blank book and an idea. The client wanted to have illustrations and messaging on the pages of a book. Simple page turns would help us navigate from one message to the next. What was the best way to achieve this? The answer was video compositing. That’s right, the book was left blank while filming the page turns and all the art was added in post-production. This gave the client flexibility to make edits down the road if there were any last minute script changes or reordering of messages. Paul co-directed to ensure the technical aspects were in place for the visual effects he later created to complete this video.

Wahl | Bearded Life
When it comes to compositing, the best visual effects are the ones you can’t even see. So for this spot for Wahl in collaboration with agency Hoffman York they did extensive casting to find someone who could lift a car with one hand, catch a cat and nail a full court shot behind their back. Easy right? Or they just looked to Paul to make the impossible happen.

Wisconsin Lottery | The Perfect Gift
Penguins are actually one of the most easily domesticated and trainable animals on Earth. Nope, not at all. In this campaign done for Wisconsin Lottery in collaboration with agency Hoffman York extensive compositing was utilized in almost every shot. Real penguins were used throughout but timing, placement and movement had to be fine tuned. Most notably in the opening and closing shots, where different takes were combined to create a larger penguin community.
